The Pop Art of Peter Phillips exhibited in Ciutadella

The Pop Art of Peter Phillips exhibited in Ciutadella
The Cultural Hall of  "Sa Nostra" in Ciutadella is holding from April 5 to 25 the retrospective exhibition "Peter Phillips. Private Collection", that groups for the first time the graphic work carried out by the artist from 1965 until 2000.

Peter Phillips (Birmingham, England, 1939) studied at the Royal College of Art in London and in 1964 received a Harkness Fellowship in the United States, moving to New York where he was influenced completely by the Pop movement. In 1966 he returned to Europe and taught until 1969, the year in which he decided to dedicate his time exclusively to painting, sharing his time between USA, Switzerland and Mallorca.

According to Gabriel Amer in the catalogue edited for the exposition, the incorporation in the last decade of the new computer technologies and the new printing techniques have not modified the Pop spirit in the works of the artist, who continues to express himself via objective figuration, daily images and those relating to consume, the absence of dramatism and the free use of colour.
