Concentration for worthy air transport

The Mesa pel Transporte Aeri de Menorca –a platform comprising political parties, business organisations, unions, civic entities, neighbours' association, etc. invite all Menorcans to participate in a concentration for fair air transport that will take place next Saturday, October 19. In the course of the concentration that will start at 12 noon in the Plaza Miranda in Maó, the contents of a manifest for worthy air transport will be read and will be handed to the Dirección Insular del Estado on Menorca with the 9.000 signatures collected.

The manifest expresses the demand by the public of the island in connection with air transport. The demands are connected to times and frequency of flights and the rates. Amongst other things, they are asking for an increase in the discount for residents of the Balearics to 50% to compensate the constant increase in costs over the past few years. According to Manolo Lora, president of the Federation of Neighbours' Association of Menorca, the Table has decided to give the central Government two months to answer and "if after this time they have not shown any worry about this social request, protest action will start again."
